Cuero Community Foundation Calls for Year-End Giving to Support Technical and Vocational Scholarships for CISD Graduates

Cuero, TX— As the year comes to a close, Cuero Community Foundation (CCF) is reaching out

to the community, businesses, and philanthropic individuals to support its Technical and

Vocational Scholarship Fund for graduates of Cuero Independent School District (CISD). These

scholarships play a crucial role in empowering local students to pursue higher education and

career development in technical and vocational fields.

Cuero Community Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to

enhancing educational opportunities and community development in Cuero and the surrounding areas. The foundation has been instrumental in fostering a culture of learning, growth, and progress within the community, implementing the Technical & Vocational Scholarship Program for CISD students in 2022.

This year, CCF is proud to continue its tradition of awarding scholarships to deserving CISD

graduates who are passionate about pursuing technical and vocational education. The

scholarships aim to support students in their journey towards acquiring valuable skills and

knowledge that will contribute to their success in the workforce.

"We believe that education is the cornerstone of a thriving community, and through the

generosity of our supporters, we can continue to provide valuable opportunities for the youth of

Cuero," said Bill Blackwell, President of Cuero Community Foundation. "By contributing to our

Technical and Vocational Scholarship Fund, donors are not only investing in the education of

individuals but also in the overall growth and prosperity of our community."

Blackwell shared that not all students are destined for a four-year degree. And, technical

programs are on the rise, especially with the solid foundation established by Eagle Ford Shale

in the area. “Keeping Cuero students in the area after graduation to continue their education

and ensuring that they have the funds to pursue technical and vocational programs is the

solution to this challenge,” Blackwell said. “We awarded scholarships in 2023 and we plan to

continue this financial support scholarship for students attending vocational and technical

programs. This will supply help to students seeking this level of education upon graduation in

the spring of 2024. Having the additional funding to help more students in this specific area of

training will provide new opportunities for those that otherwise might not be able to afford the

technical schools.”

Blackwell shared that adding the CCF vocational/technical scholarship to the May 2023 ceremony was just the start of exploring ways to meet the immediate needs of the business/industrial community for skilled/technical workers to address the employment shortages in this critical field. Continued support to the vocational scholarship is needed to ensure longevity and access to affordable training for those wishing to pursue vocational training.
